The Forum Question: What do you do to get your business out of a slump?

  • Form more allegiances and partnerships with other consultants or with product vendors.
  • Recession-proof yourself. Go back to your clients. How are they doing in this economy? How can you help?
  • Stay optimistic and resilient. Work on your personal development if you don't have clients.
  • Write a book. It will help you build your business, and give you passive income (eventually).
  • Look at the recession as a collaborative opportunity to determine your clients' corporate worth.
  • Grab a friend and go networking.
  • Ask yourself what you want to know better (e.g. software programs to help you serve your clients).
  • Write blog posts and comment on other people's blogs.
  • Start a new business, preferably one that's recession-proof (e.g. in-home care for seniors).
  • Look for corporations making infrastructure changes, particularly those that have downsized too far and are experiencing a rip tide.
